Lottery Sales Booming During Pandemic

Peak Tick season in Kentucky is here

Over the next few months experts say several kinds of ticks like the Black Deer tick, the American Dog tick and the Lone Star tick are all present in Kentucky. Ticks can also carry diseases like Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Lyme disease so health officials say it’s important to remove a tick correctly, which is gently with tweezers.

Southern Indiana Bracing For Brood X Cicada Boom

By Mel Ford May 19, 2021 | 5:18 AM Within the next week, maybe two. That’s the best guess from experts as to when southern Indiana will see the cicadas emerge and start to make noise. This year’s batch is called Brood X, and they are getting attention because of a fungus that may cause their butts to fall off. Evansville’s Mesker Park Zoo’s Paul Bouseman says the bugs are harmless to people. He says they will be noisy and likely will be everywhere for about four to six weeks. Southern Indiana is expected to be ground zero for the bugs.

Governor decides To Stick With Enhanced Jobless Benefits

By Mel Ford May 19, 2021 | 5:04 AM Governor Andy Beshear is sticking with the supplemental unemployment benefits provided by the federal government.  Many business owners see the additional 300-dollars a week in enhanced benefits as encouraging people not to return to work.  But the governor said yesterday that withdrawing from the federal program could cause more problems at this time.  The extra benefits from the federal government are scheduled to end in the fall.
